President's Message

Welcome to the South Carolina Activity Professionals Association website.  SCAPA is the only organization in the state that represents Activity Professionals working in all types of settings.  Please take a few minutes to browse the pages of this site to learn about our mission, history, educational opportunities, Board members and how you can become a member. You will also find links to the National Activity Professionals Association (NAAP) , National Certification Council for Activity Professionals (NCCAP), Activity Connection, and Activity Director and RE-Creative Resources, Inc.  If there is other information you would like to see added to the website, let us know.

On a personal note, I have been a member of  SCAPA since January 2001 and have served SCAPA as the Piedmont District Representative, Parliamentarian, Corresponding/Membership Secretary, and Professional Development Chair and as of February 2009, President.  I have been in the healthcare profession since 2000 serving as the Activities Director for the Foothills Presbyterian Home and more recently I work part time at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Taylors, S.C. with a focus on the Youth and Senior Adults.  I am a Certified Activities Director (ADC) through NCCAP and I encourage all Activity Professionals to seek certification as well.

I encourage all Activity Professionals to become involved with SCAPA by serving on a committee, hosting a district meeting at your facility, or volunteering for open Board positions. Bringing quality, professional speakers and educational opportunities to South Carolina takes a lot of time and effort.  Your contributions and support are crucial as SCAPA grows. Not only is serving your peers rewarding, but as part of SCAPA, you will gain many new friends and networking opportunities.

I look forward to serving as SCAPA President and getting to know the Activity Professionals of South Carolina.  Please feel free to contact me if you need assistance.

Amy Jackson, BA, ADC
